Background Information:
The Diebel Legacy Fund at the Central Florida Foundation was initially established in 2002 as the N. Donald Diebel, Jr. MD Good Samaritan Fund after Don’s tragic death. Don was traveling with his family on the Florida Turnpike
when he stopped to assist at an accident scene. He was heroically attempting to extract a seriously injured women from a pick-up truck when a semitrailer plowed into the scene killing Don instantly. Since its inception the Fund has partnered with many Central Florida institutions engaged in providing primary health care, most notably Shepherd’s Hope, the Grace Medical Home and the Knights Clinic which is a medical student
run clinic based at the Grace Medical Home.
Our efforts assist in providing medical services to people in need who are without insurance and financial resources through both acute care and on-going care models. The development of the KNIGHTS clinic through the unique collaboration with the Fund provides learning opportunities for medical students from The University of Central Florida College of Medicine while providing medical services to people who previously had no access to care. All proceeds will go to Shepherd’s Hope, the KNIGHTS Clinic, Grace Medical Home and other carefully selected local organizations dedicated to helping the medically underserved in the Central Florida community.
